國畫家史隆以風景畫、風俗畫和人物畫著稱，風景畫中以水景及山景特別出色，他的創作
給予了大自然豐富的生命力，從他的作品中看得出四 季的轉移與時辰的變化，畫風與美國另
一畫家魏斯接近，作品洋溢著祥和寧靜，耐人尋味的內心世界，充滿文學味濃厚的詩意，這
份 精湛的功力深得收藏家的喜愛，美國奧克拉荷馬州美術 館有收藏他的作品。
史隆在這幅畫中巧妙的表達出傍晚時刻的鄉野秋景，長日將盡，此時的陽光散發著柔和的光
芒， 在一望無際的原野裡高高低低 的石砌小屋，使得畫面更有變化。天空、海面還有石屋等
等白色、灰色的冷色調，成功的營造出秋意的蕭瑟氣氛；楓紅及成熟麥穗的金黃色， 使得畫
面呈現絕佳的配 色效果。
